The following information has been postponed by the Canada government due to the outcry of Canada's Resort based Outfitters that offer Hunting as
part of their business. Many Americans have also contacted Canadian officials expressing their concerns with this law. As of now implimenting these laws have been postponed until the year 2001.

Beginning in 1998 American hunters will be required to register their
guns before entering Canada. Canadian goverment wanting to know whom every
person in Canada that owns a gun is quite the plot hatched on Canadian
citizens, but are we Americans going to participate in this plot. I sure
hope not!
You are of course going to have to pay a small fee of $50, for the privilege
of registering your gun with the Canadian government, to be able to spend
your money on a Canadian hunting trip. Then of course be detained for who
knows how long at Customs filling out intrusive paperwork. Then of course we
can consider this thought,"will the Liberals of the North send the Liberals
of the South this information?". Probably, for a small fee.
It's our friends the Outfitters of Canada that end up paying the most for
all the ill conceived plots of their liberal government with the loss of
business from South of the border. This isn't the only thing they are
facing right now, the Canadian Coast Guard has a winner of their own.
If you don't like this plan then you MUST! let Canadian officials know what
you think. They of course let us know what they think, like MP Bob Nault,
Rainy River - Kenora. Mr. Nault recently had this to say,"Maybe Americans
should worry about their own country and leave our alone". This statement
was made to NOTO Director Jim Grayson.
Well maybe American Hunters should leave Canada alone. Mr. Nault obviously
doesn't care about how much money Americans spend on tourism, so maybe he
won't miss this money when it stops crossing the border. This of course
will have no effect on a politician, the effect will be felt by the
outfitters of Canada. Maybe Mr. Nault will miss the "harmonization monies"
of the GST that the Federal Liberals maintained, a GST tax other parties
wanted to scrap. Let Canadian officials know where you stand on these
issues involving your money and your privacy. Write to Ontario Premier
Mike Harris and let him know "Americans just might leave Canada alone"!
